A Message from Our Board
Updated: Jul 18, 2022
Since our inception in 2017, we have been an organization that has a unique model to bring people of differing races together through the shared experience of education. Students to Scholars families have included Black, White, and Hispanic families. As we have discussed with the students many times, we are “one for all and all for one,” never more so than now. We stand together against racial injustice, gender injustice, economic injustice, and injustice of every kind. We seek to build bridges in our communities between the affluent and the under-served and between all races. In this time of turmoil, we hope that Students to Scholars provides a way forward for racial respect, tolerance, and acceptance. Offering promising children an outstanding education is one means of addressing social inequity. Equally important is having the opportunity to learn from each other’s vastly different life experiences. We see the impact of this with our students who have made fast friends of many races and different economic levels at their new schools and who are beloved by all. We see it with the parents who have developed an understanding and appreciation for the families of their children’s new friends. Some of us are fortunate enough to have made strong friendships with people whom we normally would never have had the opportunity to know when we all live in our own bubbles. These friendships have enriched our lives beyond measure. In these times of great sadness and turmoil over racial injustice, we lift up one another. We hope that each of us will commit to listening and working toward social change. This is a time to stand together, to begin a transformation of our society to one of racial and economic opportunity. Students to Scholars publicly supports our families of color on the issues that are dramatically impacting their lives. Sincerely, The Students to Scholars Board
